Hello families,  Here's the weekly update! Next week's blog will be short and sweet with some photos of our fun last week!  The highlight of our week was going on our field trip to Canyon Meadows Cinema to see The Wild Robot! Students had fun with various STEM challenges following the movie!                  The other highlight of our week was continuing our learning about computer science and coding! On Monday, students had fun working with Scratch Jr. to learn some basic coding skills. On Tuesday, we learned how to use the app Blockly to work with the Dash robots. On Wednesday, we learned how to use the Ozobots which are controlled with lines and colours (marker on paper!)    In literacy, students finished up the good copy of their Sometimes I Feel Like a Fox writing! Hello families,  Here's what we got up to this week!  In social studies, we are wrapping up our learning about the Seven Sacred Teachings. We read the story, "Sometimes I Feel Like a Fox" by Danielle Daniel. Students then got to pick the Sacred Teaching that they connected to most for their own writing. Students used a graphic organizer to plan their writing. This included the character traits of their chosen animal, a time they demonstrated that sacred teaching, and lastly, students used Pebble Go to research one scientific fact about their animal. Students completed a 1st draft after sharing with a peer. They also underlined any words they felt may be spelled incorrectly so we can edit their work together. On Friday, students worked on some Sacred Teaching Art to accompany their writing.  In math, we wrapped up our learning about fractions with a little quiz to see what students know. They did awesome!
