December 9-13

Hello families,

Here's our weekly update!

In literacy this week we reviewed the letters X and Q with characters Max the Ox and Felix Fox, and Quentin Quail. We have two letters left and then after the break we will be moving on to short vowel review and digraphs. Our words for next week are Christmas themed!

In math we continued learning how to compare numbers using greater than, less than and equal signs. We also revisited even and odd numbers and had fun playing a game together on Friday.

In science we started working on a sleigh design project! We could use some more recyclables to help with our building next week! We will be starting our building on Monday. Check with your child to see what kind of materials they are hoping to use for their building. Please do not go out and buy anything! We have tape and glue here for students to use. Students' sleighs need to:
  • Hold presents
  • Travel through the snow (we will pull them outside)
  • Be stable

This week we also had a ton of fun making cat and dog treats and advertising around the school! Thanks for your support on our Pawsitive Match fundraiser and thank you to the volunteers that were able to help out! I haven't finished counting the money but I believe we beat our record from last year which was $700!

In PE we've been having fun playing different winter themed games including Elf Express which is great for teamwork and communication!

Some students have been enjoying building snowflakes out of loose parts as a work choice this week!
