June 12-16

Hello families,

We're in the single-digit countdown! Only 9 days of school left!

I just have a quick blog update this week!

We were so excited to have ARTS Senior Animal Rescue come visit us on Tuesday! Denise and Brian came to teach as all about ARTS and brought their cat Ronnie with them. We were able to donate over $1600 thanks to our Family Dance fundraiser! I will be putting together a video of this experience to share with the whole school at our end of year assembly.

In math we've continued learning about 3D shapes and specifically looked at cubes, rectangular prisms, and triangular prisms.

In science students have been working away on their National Geographic books - about half of the students are done and the other half are just finishing up! Our social studies work has been set aside a bit as we finish up this big project! We also had a little tortoise visiter in our classroom. Ms. Gierl borrowed her friend's tortoise, Flash, so we got to learn a little bit about him!

This week we were also working on a little Father's Day activity but I won't share the details!

On Friday we had a blast with Sports Day! I think the teachers vs grade 6 kickball game will have to be an annual tradition!

Next week we are looking forward to a couple events! On Tuesday we will be heading out to Fish Creek Park for the day. An email with more info will be coming to the volunteers. On Wednesday, it is National Indigenous Peoples Day, and on Thursday we are going to have a "90s Day" spirit day (details to come)!

Home Reading

Next week we are asking for all home reading books and folders to be returned for the end of the year! Please have a look at home for these books (as well as outstanding library books) to return some time next week.

Fun Lunch

I made a mistake with the Fun Lunch on June 22nd. I thought this was for the whole school but it appears to be for our kindergarten classes. My mistake! You can't tell the difference on the teacher side of Healthy Hunger.

Lost and Found

We've started quite the cutlery collection in the classroom. Please let me know if any of these items belong to you. Our school lost and found is also bursting!

 Upcoming Dates
  • Thursday, June 8th - All library books due back to learning commons
  • Tuesday, June 20th - Fish Creek Park Field Trip (room 8, 11 & 13)
