May 6-10

Hello families,

Here's our weekly update!

Math

In math we are continuing to work on mixed addition and subtraction word problems each morning. We also learned more about non-standard measurement this week. Students had fun using different measurement tools to measure items in the classroom. We also learned the iteration process for measuring and had fun measuring outside on Friday with the beautiful weather!

Literacy

This week in our UFLI program we continued learning about r-controlled vowels. We learned about the "or" sound and the "er" sound.

Students have been working on turning their Planet Projects into a writing piece. We're using the writers workshop process and began revising and editing our writing on Friday. Next week we will be working on our good copies!

Here are the words for next week:

Science & Social Studies

We are wrapping up our Planet Project as well as our learning about Meteghan. Students had fun doing some lighthouse artwork that was on display during the volunteer tea! Next week will be our last week working with Ms. Davies and we are excited to see all of the classes' artwork come together to represent the three communities in Canada we are studying!

Health & Wellness

This week we discussed mental health and celebrated Hats on for Mental Health Day.

We've also been enjoying Sound Kreations dance! It has been so fun to watch the kids dance and I am so proud of everyone for participating and giving it their all! Definitely a proud teacher moment!
