February 10-12
Hello families,
Can you believe that Tuesday will be the 100th day of school?! Where has the time gone!
Here's what we got up to during our short week of school!
On Monday we had fun exploring loose parts again as a pre-writing activity. Students were asked to build something that they did on the weekend. After some building time they shared with a buddy or two to practice their oral story telling skills. Some students also shared what they did with the whole class. Next, students used their building to draw a picture of what they did over the weekend. Lastly, they wrote about what they did. We were working on generating more ideas and adding more detail to our writing!

To celebrate Valentine's Day, we learned about the artist Wassily Kandinsky. We observed and noticed things about his works of art and specifically looked at his artwork called "Squares with Concentric Circles." We made our own artwork inspired by him with concentric hearts using water colour!
Students also made personalized Valentine's Day cards for their big buddies and we delivered them on Wednesday afternoon! 💗
Thanks to the TD Grade One Book Giveaway program, grade 1 students brought home the book "Violet Shrink."
