Thursday
Hello everyone!
Today we had our first music class! We will have music again tomorrow. We will also be having an assembly which means our phys ed time will need to be outdoors.
During our sharing circle we shared about our favourite foods and then we were really ready for snack time. We discussed what "Work Period" sounds, looks and feels like and students worked on Morning Math (using the number 3, 22, or 972) and their activities from yesterday that weren't finished. In gym, we played Snakes in the Grass.
After lunch we did mindful minutes and read another chapter from our Secrets of Droon novel. We then watched a story on the Smart Board called Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge by Mem Fox. This story talks about what a memory is and students were given a "Homework" task! (SEE BELOW!)
HOMEWORK
Students were given a "homework" assignment today! They have been asked to bring something to school on Monday that represents a memory. This item must fit in the bag provided. There are more instructions on the bad for you to see. This can be returned on Friday or Monday but we will not be sharing until Monday. This is sort of like a "Show and Tell" activity to help us get to know each other better. Please let me know if you have any questions!
GUEST READER
We are starting Guest Reader up again! Guest reader is an opportunity to read a story to the class. The story should be approximately 10 minutes long (or shorter) and students should practice before reading it aloud to the class. We focus on using a nice, loud, clear voice! After reading, the class will share 2 stars and a wish (2 reading compliments and 1 thing they can work on for next time). This is completely optional for students! If your child wants to do Guest Reader in September, they will be bringing home a calendar to show which day they are reading. I will send a new calendar home with participating students each month.
STUDENT INFORMATION PACKAGE
Students will be bringing home a brown envelop with paperwork (woohoo!) We are asking for these envelopes to be returned by Monday, September 17th. Please let me, or the office, know if you have any questions about any of the forms. As one of my students put it, "our parents have more homework to do than we do!"
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT TOMORROW IS OUR FIRST EARLY DISMISSAL FRIDAY! SCHOOL WILL BE OVER AT 12:15PM.
