November 1-5

Hello families!  This week we started learning about Remembrance Day. We had some great discussions and watched some videos together. We also learned about artist Georgia O'Keeffe and created some poppy artwork inspired by her poppy paintings. The other grade 1 classes also did some poppy artwork!  We reviewed the letters 'F' and 'B' this week with Farley Fox and Baby Barnaby. We also focused on "sky, grass, dirt" letters and using "spaghetti and meatball" spaces in our writing.  In math, we focused on the numbers 13 and 14. We also learned a couple of math games including "Chips in Jeopardy" and "All Aboard!" These games are from Math Mania, which also has some great resources to use at home -  https://www.mmmathmania.com/copy-of-for-educators  We've been playing a lot of games as teacher vs class to learn them, and then students are welcome to use these games as "responsible work choices" when their class work
