Hello families!  We had a busy week and completed a lot of fun learning activities! Prepare for a lot of photos!  In science, we started talking about colour mixing. We tried the "Walking Waters" experiment, created secondary and tertiary colours using Playdoh and used paint to make tints and shades!  In social studies, we continued developing our geographical thinking skills. We continued learning about the rest of the Canadian provinces and territories. We learned about Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Yukon Territories, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut. We watched the Canada Road Trip series for each province and territory. In addition, we watched a video about life in Iqaluit and we watched a throat singing performance by an Inuit band called The Jerry Cans. Hello families,  This week we continued learning about the different Canadian provinces. We learned about Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, and New Brunswick.  This week we focused on words from the "-in" word family and learned a poem called "A Fish Who Grins." Students liked this one so much that some decided to act it out which was very fun to watch. Students were able to write about their weekends, or what they would do if they spent the weekend at the school. Students worked hard to use the editing checklist to improve their work!  In math, we continued to work on Fact Families and students have been doing a "Problem of the Day" (POD) to improve our understanding of the relationships between addition and subtraction! We also had a St. Patrick's Day "Estimation Station" where students estimated how many coins were in the jar.
