November 30 - December 3

Hello families,

I hope you're all doing well! It was definitely a bit of a crazy week around here. As I'm sure you heard, I was away sick on Tuesday and Wednesday and with no substitute teachers available the students had the opportunity to work with Ms. Durnford, Ms. Rooke and Ms. Brown! So, my update will be a bit short this week! Can you believe there are only 10 days of school left before the winter break?

In literacy, we have been reviewing the letters L and N. We only have a couple of letters left! We also started making a 12 Days of Christmas book and each day students are adding a page. They will bring them home before the break.

In math we have continued to work with numbers to 20 and 2D shapes. This week students worked on some shape artwork and learned about pentagons.

In gym, we have been having "Fitness Fridays" and the students have enjoyed starting our PE class with a Tabata workout (20 seconds of exercise, and 10 seconds of rest). We have also been starting to learn some Christmas themed games in gym, including Do You Want to Build a Snowman? where students run around the gym to collect items for their team to put together a snowman.

Hermit Crabs

Today after school I cleaned out our hermit crab tank, and our little hermit crab friends seem very happy! Over the winter break, I usually like to offer them up to any families that would like to take care of them. They are very low maintenance and can be left to their own devices for a couple of days (they usually stay at the school all weekend and do just fine). If you are interested in taking care of them over the break, please send me an email. It will be "first come, first served."

Toys at School

We kindly ask that students are not bringing toys from home to school. There is always a chance that items can get lost, stolen or damaged and often become distracting in the classroom. This includes Pokemon cards which I have seen a lot of this week. Please remind your child that these items should stay at home!

Movement Minutes

The last day to return Movement Minutes for Move-ember will be Monday! We have less than half so please return them if you were participating!

An ice pack was left at school today - please let me know if you are missing one!

Upcoming Dates
