June 17-21

Hello families,

Here's a quick weekly update! We are looking forward to lots of fun in our last week of school next week!

Math

We continued learning about fractions! We did a spinner activity to practice creating fractions and grade 2s learned how to order an compare unit fractions (numerator of 1). Students did a final assessment of their knowledge in fractions and did great!

Literacy

We practiced and performed our Readers Theatre performances this week. The kids did great practicing together and performing! Our performances included: Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and Jack and the Beanstalk.

Students also enjoyed comparing The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf to The Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark. Students worked on storyboards to create their own story and designed the front cover of their book. Some students are choosing to write out the whole story!

There will be no weekly words for next week!

Social Studies

We celebrated Indigenous Peoples Day on Friday. We enjoyed reading the story, What's Up Whats Down? and went outside for a sit spot as a whole school. I was really impressed that students were able to quietly sketch in their sit spot for 15 minutes... especially on the last Friday of the year!
