Tuesday

Hello families & happy October! I can't believe how quickly the first month of school went by. Today was our 20th day of school already!

This morning we started talking about even and odd numbers. Students were given either a red, yellow, or orange piece of paper and in their group they had to organize themselves to show whether their number was even or odd. We read a story called "Odd or Even in a Monstrous Season" on Epic! and a new responsible work choice game based on this story was introduced. Students are either Even Elsie or Odd Onslo in a race to the top! The ways that we talked about determining if a number is even or odd is either partnering up the objects to see if any are left over, or trying to make 2 equal groups. I also introduced some new ways for students to practice their weekly words - I forgot to take photos of this today but I will tomorrow!

In the afternoon we had mindful minutes and started our Daily 5 literacy groups. Students will do a different activity each day and then will repeat the stations. We will usually have Daily 5 3-4 times per week. We also had library this afternoon and started Guest Reader after recess.
