Wednesday

Hello families!

This morning we finished up our Guest Reader from yesterday and we had a quick chat about the Zones of Regulation. This would be a review for our grade 2s but may have been new for our grade 1s. We talked about what to do when someone is in the red zone (leaving them alone and giving them space). We talked a bit about empathy and putting ourselves in someone else's shoes because we never know what is bothering someone or why they are in the red zone. We will continue to talk about the zones throughout the year! Students then went to music and during gym we played with foam frisbees and played 4 corners.

During work period, we continued to talk about even and odd numbers. Students had to sort numbers in a chart and then choose 1 even and 1 odd number and explain how they knew it was even or odd. They had the option of numbers to 12 or numbers to 100.

Students also practiced their "-ar" words, and drew some pictures about how they can show generosity to add to our Circle of Courage. Many students chose to play the Elsie and Onslo even or odd game as a responsible work choice. In the afternoon we had daily 5 literacy time again and some extra work period time. At the very end of the day, we enjoyed our second Guest Reader.

Today I sent home login information for Raz-Kids. I'm so happy it's working again! You can visit the website (kids login) or download the Raz-Kids app. This is one of the activities students can do during "Listen to Reading" at Daily 5 time.

Are you connected to Seesaw yet? Make sure to connect so you will be able to view your child's work and see their Guest Reader!
