 Terry Fox Run 2021

We will be having our Annual Terry Fox Run on Wednesday, September 22, 2021Teachers will be discussing with students the life of Terry Fox and the contributions he has made to cancer research as well as coming together in the afternoon for a virtual wrap up assembly.  Students are encouraged to wear blue/white/ or their school t-shirt on this day.

Students can dedicate their run to someone who they know has been affected by cancer. Please speak to your child prior to our run and if they choose to dedicate their run to someone, they can share this in their class sharing circle prior to or after their run.

Should you wish to make a donation online, please use the following link to donate through the Terry Fox website:

Let’s keep Terry’s dream to find a cure for cancer alive!

Montessori Birthday Celebrations

Everyone wants to be remembered and cherished on the special day that they were born. The Montessori Birthday Walk Around the Sun is a lovely way to celebrate a child's birthday in a school setting.

Children love to hear about the journey from their birth to the present day. They want to hear stories, look at photos, and remember wonderful memories. They want to know how cherished they are, and how our life and world is better because they were born into our family or now belong to our class. The Montessori Walk Around the Sun is the perfect way to do this.

In preparation for the Montessori Celebration of Life, the parents of the birthday child are asked to send a picture digitally for each year of the child's life, and write a short life story to accompany the pictures. I have attached a sample of a life story, and will send home a paper copy during your child's birthday month. We will celebrate our July and August birthdays in June.

The Montessori Birthday Walk around the Sun is more than just a birthday celebration; it's a Celebration of Life, a lesson in science, astronomy, and grace, and a community building experience for the entire class.

As we are still respecting health protocols, we ask that no items come from home (edible or non-edible treats). Thank you for your understanding.
