Monday

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had an awesome weekend!

This morning we had library. Our library will be closed the rest of the week as we set up for the Scholastic Book Fair. On Wednesday morning we will have a chance to preview the book fair as a class - no students will be purchasing on this day.. just looking!

This morning we chose our weekly words from the "-ag" family. We also had guest reader and watched a video about the Scholastic Book Fair to see what new books will be at the fair.

In the afternoon we were joined by Ms. Kassam. She will be in our classroom every day this week after lunch. Ms. Kassam teaches kindergarten in the morning and spends her afternoons providing literacy support to other classrooms. Students chose their weekly words and we did a cubby clean out (it was a scary sight!) We also had literacy groups in the afternoon.

At the end of the day we continued with our Canada Crew game - the students are obsessed! They have really enjoyed starting to learn about the different provinces and territories in Canada.

Thank you to all of you for signing up for conferences this Thursday and Friday. I'm looking forward to meeting with all of you!

As a class, we are talking about doing a fundraiser for AARCS (Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society). This is where I got my cats, Nora and Eli, from last year. I received some mail last week asking about Christmas donations and thought this could be a way for our to talk about volunteerism and the basic needs of animals. We are starting to brainstorm some different ways we could raise money or something we could sell. If you have any ideas or come up with an idea with your child at home, please let me know! I will keep you posted on this!
