Wednesday

Hi everyone,

This morning we had Explore and Play and Daily 5 Literacy. During work period we did our word work centres. We also read a story called "Peace is an Offering" and talked about how peace feels, looks, smells and sounds. The plan was to start this activity today but after finally cleaning off my desk I misplaced the poppy templates. Of course, 10 seconds after saying we would work on it tomorrow, I found them! So, we will continue this activity tomorrow.

In the afternoon we had a crash course on the Zones of Regulation. I wanted to see what students remembered from last year. We also had literacy groups and at the end of the day watched some videos that talked more about the Zones of Regulation. A lot of students had a hard time listening on following through on tasks today so it felt like a good time to revisit the zones. Here is a graphic for those who are not familiar with the Zones of Regulation. This is a way to identify how we feeling and discuss strategies on how to get back to the Green zone. We also discuss that it's ok to be in any zone and we're all in those zones at some point but that it is important to know how to get back to the green zone when it is learning time. Students will begin to start identifying what zones other people are in as this is easier for them than identifying what zone they are in - we will get there!

New Library Time
We are so happy to have Mrs. Podgurney back in the library. Mrs. Podgurney only works morning so our library time has had to change. For the rest of the year our new Library time will be Monday mornings.

Snacks
Please have a quick conversation with your child about sharing snacks at school. It is important for individual food choices and allergies that we do not share snacks at school. Please also remember not to send food with peanuts in it to school.

Toys
No toys should be brought to school. If they are at school they need to be kept in backpacks and do not go out at recess time. They are starting to appear in the classroom more and more every day!

Conferences
Please keep an eye out for an email from Mrs. Jones regarding November Learning Conferences. Conferences are on Thursday, November 22nd from 4:00-8:00pm and Friday, November 23rd from 8:00am-1:00pm. Please let me know if you have any questions or need help signing up for a spot if you are still having trouble after Mrs. Jones' email.

Remembrance Day

Dear LBS Families,

This Friday, November 9, grades 5 and 6 are hosting a Remembrance Day Assembly.

We invite you to join us at 10:45 am. At approximately 11:00 am we will stop for a minute of silence.

If you don’t have a poppy, we will have poppies available and are happy to accept donations that we will pass along to the Legion.

Hope we see you there!
