Wednesday

Hello families!

Today students has music and gym in the morning. We read the story "Leaf Man" and created our own leaf art in the garden. These photos have been shared with you on Seesaw! (If you haven't checked your emails - make sure to do that!) I'm really excited about Seesaw and hope it will be a good way for students to share their work with you!

A Guest Reader schedule also came home today. Students will come to school ready to share their story with the class. They can choose a book from home, a home reading book (we'll get that started soon!), or a book from our classroom or library. It should take between 5-10 minutes to read. The class will share 2 stars and a wish, meaning 2 things they liked about the guest reader and one think they would suggest working on for next time. Students will then bring the form home, watch their guest reader video on Seesaw (1-2 minutes) and come up with a star and wish for themselves. The form is then signed and returned so we all know what your child is working on for the next time they do guest reader. This could also be added as a comment on their video on Seesaw and does not need to be done the night of! Alternatively, your child can watch the video at school and I will work with them to create a goal for next time.

In the afternoon we talked about Terry Fox and watched a video about him. I let students know that they could read a book at a table instead of watching if it made them feel too emotional. Students then coloured a picture of Terry and wrote words that described him.

Tomorrow, our Terry Fox run will be on - rain or shine! Please make sure your child is prepared to participate, no matter the weather. Of course, if it is thunder storming, students will not be outdoors. Students will be wearing stickers tomorrow indicating who they will be running for. Feel free to send a note to school tomorrow or send me an email to let me know who they will be running for, if you think they might forget! I hope you are able to join us for the run!

Card Club is tomorrow!
