Monday

Hello families!

This morning we had a quick presentation from some grade 5/6 students about our upcoming Food Drive. We decided our goal as a class is to collect 40 food items (2 items each - if you are able!)

Hello Parents and Families!

The LBS Students In Action Club is organizing a food drive this year, in order to help make a positive change in peoples’ lives.  All donations will be given to the Veteran Food Bank. We will be collecting non-perishable food items until Friday, November 15th. Our goal is to collect 500 food items! Please support our food drive and help show our appreciation and generosity to those who have served in the Canadian Forces.

The Students in Action Club

Today we tested out doing 2 Daily 5 centres in one day. Students had 15 minutes to do one activity, a couple of minutes to clean up and transition, and 15 minutes for the second activity. We are going to try doing 2 centres every day so I can meet with each group more frequently. This morning, we worked with Mrs. Ireland's class on our Weekly Words so we could teach her class our usual way of brainstorming and choosing Weekly Words. Our class helped teach Mrs. Ireland's class how to make a brainstorming chart and use the "sound boards." During work period, students chose their words and graphed the weather data we collected for October.

In the afternoon we had guest reader, gym and music!

Class Photo Retakes ðŸ“¸
It seems that Lifetouch has lost our class photos. On Tuesday, November 12th, in addition to individual student photo retakes, we will need to have our class photo re-taken. Remember to come dressed for photos after the Remembrance Day long weekend! If you are wanting re-takes for your child's individual photo, please just send me an email so I know who to send down on the 12th!

Tomorrow is library day! 📖

Volunteer Opportunities
I have a few tasks coming up that I could use some help with! Anyone wanting to volunteer needs to have an updated police clearance with LBS!

Thursday, November 7th
On Thursday morning, we will be doing some poppy artwork that involves weaving yarn and I am anticipating that an extra hand or two will be needed. If you are interested in helping out from 10:15-11:40. Here's an example of what we're hoping to do!

Monday, November 25th
We will be having an artist come in to make a wet art felting project with our class. We will need 4 volunteers for this activity. We will be starting first thing and expect it to take 2-2.5 hours, So I will need volunteers from 8:15-10:45 ish. Please send me an email if you are interested in helping out!

Other Tasks
In the classroom, I could use some help with the following jobs:
- Re-organizing the bead cabinet (it was knocked over and haven't had a chance to put it back together properly) I might already have someone for this!
- Organizing duotangs for Home Reading (sometime next week)
