Thursday

Hello families!

Today we finished up our seasonal art and did some writing about the objects in our "Museo-kit." Students chose one thing to write about and described what they thought it was used for and why.

In the afternoon, students used gloves to check out the items and made their final guesses - they did a pretty good job. In case you're interested, here is what each item was used for!

1. Handbell - used for recess and dismissal
2. Lunch-kit - would have been used for something else in the home and then cleaned and re-used for lunch
3. Strap - used for discipline - students would be hit on the palm of their hand when misbehaving
4. Inkwell - these fit into a hole in the desk and was used for writing
5. Math text book - used for grade 4 and 5
6. Story book - written in 1928!!
7. Straight pen - was dipped into the inkwell for writing
8. Slate - used with chalk to practice math and letters
