Tuesday

Hello families,

This morning, we started talking about Remembrance Day. We talked a little bit about poppies, remembering soldiers who fought for us to have peace and freedom, and John McCrae. Students started working on a Remembrance Day book as well as practicing their words and finishing up their October weather graphs and some students began working on a math assessment either with me one-on-one, or independently with support from me when needed. In gym, we continued practicing catching and throwing and played a game called "House."

In the afternoon we had Daily 5 literacy time, guest reader and library.

Some students have been asking to use the iPads during our morning Explore & Play time so today I made a 6 day schedule for students to take turns using the iPad during this time. Most students would choose to do a step-by-step drawing, Raz-Kids, or Prodigy.

Today a paper notice came home from school council about information regarding this years' fundraisers - look for this information in your email as it will only be sent digitally!

Hello Parents and Families!

The LBS Students In Action Club is organizing a food drive this year, in order to help make a positive change in peoples’ lives.  All donations will be given to the Veteran Food Bank. We will be collecting non-perishable food items until Friday, November 15th. Our goal is to collect 500 food items! Please support our food drive and help show our appreciation and generosity to those who have served in the Canadian Forces.

Remembrance Day Assembly
Our Remembrance Day Assembly will be held this Friday at 10:30 am.  We welcome families to attend. Poppies will be available as you enter the school and we thankfully welcome any poppy donations.

As you may already know, the Students In Action Club is holding a food drive for the Veteran Food Bank.  If you would like to make a donation to aid in showing our school community's generosity and appreciation, you may bring a non-perishable food item to the assembly or send it with your child on or before Friday, November 15th.

Volunteer Opportunities
I have a few tasks coming up that I could use some help with! Anyone wanting to volunteer needs to have an updated police clearance with LBS!

Thursday, November 7th
On Thursday morning, we will be doing some poppy artwork that involves weaving yarn and I am anticipating that an extra hand or two will be needed. If you are interested in helping out from 10:15-11:40. Here's an example of what we're hoping to do!

Monday, November 25th
We will be having an artist come in to make a wet art felting project with our class. We will need 4 volunteers for this activity. We will be starting first thing and expect it to take 2-2.5 hours, So I will need volunteers from 8:15-10:45 ish. Please send me an email if you are interested in helping out!

I feel like I'm forgetting something - but we'll leave it at that!
